Houses of Parliament
Visit the Houses of Parliament and its splendid Clock Tower. Inside hangs
the famous bell Big Ben named after Sir Benjamin Hall, Chief Commissioner
of Works when the bell was hung in 1858. It is worth queuing to visit the
Strangers Gallery where you can see the House at work, and get a chance
to see the magnificent interior as well.
Overseas Visitors : A very limited number of permits are available to visitors
to tour the Houses of Parliament. Visitors should apply to the Parliamentary
Education Unit (edunit@parliament.uk), and if granted, a permit will enable
a party of up to 16 people to tour the Palace of Westminster on Fridays
between 15.30-17.30 (provided that both Houses have concluded their business
for the week). Please note that this may change due to security issues.
